Summary

Daniel Pratt Elementary School in Prattville, AL, is a large, high-performing school serving 1,035 students in grades 1 through 6 within the Autauga County district. Despite the district ranking in the middle of the pack statewide, Daniel Pratt consistently earns a 4-star rating and ranks in the top 20% of Alabama elementary schools (81st percentile), making it a clear academic leader in its area.

What truly sets Daniel Pratt apart are its exceptional results for specific student groups. The school ranks in the 97th percentile for English Language Learners, earning a 5-star rating—a phenomenal achievement that suggests highly effective, targeted programs. Even more striking is its support for military-connected students: in just two years, the school jumped from the 24th to the 96th percentile, now ranking #1 out of 25 schools statewide for this subgroup. The school also boasts a chronic absenteeism rate of just 6.2%, far better than the district (9.4%) and state (12.0%) averages, and dramatically lower than nearby Montgomery County schools like Chisholm Elementary School (20.8%) and Morris Elementary School (29.3%).

Daniel Pratt also outperforms its closest comparable school, Ivy Classical Academy, despite serving a more economically diverse student body (42.6% vs. 28.3% free/reduced lunch). While the school excels in English Language Arts across all grades, math proficiency is strongest in 3rd grade (72.7% vs. 44.9% statewide) but declines by 6th grade—a common trend worth watching. The school achieves all this while spending less per student ($7,358) than any comparable school in the area, including district peers like Prattville Primary School ($8,620). Areas for growth include performance for Asian students (bottom 15th percentile) and students from low socio-economic backgrounds (68th percentile), but overall, Daniel Pratt delivers top-tier results efficiently and effectively.

Open Quote This school is absolutely horrendous! Greatschools.org rated this school a 9, but their system must be seriously flawed! We have only been here a year, but we're extatic there won't be a second! Our son has ADHD and performed extremely well in his last school, but is failing here due in large part to the lack communication and responsibility from the worthless teachers he has and staff. I'm certainly not saying all the teachers are bad, but his have some significant issues, and I can't fathom why they even became teachers! For example, I told them that my son told me he was scared of his teachers and now hates school...they thought that was hysterical! The principal is absolutely worthless! He has a criminal justice degree and treats the students like convicts! We tried to meet with him to discuss some of our concerns about our son to ensure proper placement with an experienced teacher and was told to write a letter! He has two assistants but doesn't have time to visit with a concerned parent?!? I've heard E. Montgomery has better schools. If your child is as programmable as a well disciplined robot, I'm certain they will do well here. If you care about your child though, you'll find a different school or home school! Close Quote

Open Quote This is an average school with lots of hard working teachers. Most of the front office staff is always polite and welcoming. However, the principal is unprofessional and extremely rude. I had a meeting with this man about parking in the front parking lot and walking my child to the door (this kind of activity is frowned upon here at Daniel Pratt). What I got was a good-old-boy cuss out. I was informed that if I choose to continue to do this legal action will be taken against me. I was also reminded that my child does not have to attend Daniel Pratt. Be aware that if you choose to voice your opinion about any of their policies you will be quickly put in your proper place.
