Summary

Prattville Elementary School serves 546 students in grades 3-4 in Prattville, AL, as part of the Autauga County district, sitting between the district's primary and upper elementary schools.

This school has some remarkable strengths that set it apart. Most notably, it ranks in the 92nd percentile statewide for English Language Learner students—an exceptional achievement that places it 11th out of 143 schools in Alabama. The school also does very well supporting military-connected families, ranking in the 72nd percentile, which is especially relevant given the proximity to Maxwell Air Force Base. Another standout success is the dramatic reduction in chronic absenteeism, which dropped from nearly 20% to just 7.3% over three years—now beating both the district and state averages. In 4th grade, students consistently outperform state averages in both math and English, with 65% proficient in English compared to the state's 59.5%.

However, there are areas of concern. The school's overall rating slipped from a 4-star to a 3-star level recently, and 3rd grade English proficiency has dropped by over 13 percentage points from its peak. Performance with Special Education students has been volatile, and the school's student-teacher ratio of 18.8 is higher than most nearby schools, meaning larger class sizes. When compared to Daniel Pratt Elementary School just two miles away, Prattville Elementary trails significantly in 3rd grade math (45% vs. 73%) and English (60% vs. 79%). Interestingly, the school achieves outcomes nearly identical to Ivy Classical Academy, a nearby charter school, despite serving a student population with nearly double the rate of economic disadvantage. This suggests the school is doing more with less, though there's clear room for improvement in closing the gap with its district peers.

Open Quote Finally at the end of her 2nd year in this horrible school. 4rth grade teacher is a nightmare bully. I use to volunteer but this teacher asks and asks for me to help out several times a week and I end up grading over a hundred papers for two classes every time. My daughter comes home and tells me about verbal humiliation for class view, she yells at her students constantly, her grades have dropped by two letters, she failed on a test for asking for a highlighter but apparently the teacher requires they highlight their names, I have watched her compare a class that is doing better than them to her class as if the children are all too blame. My daughter came from a very good school that took her education seriously and didn't punish her grades based off of a conduct issue. She was in an accelerated reading program before I made the mistake of putting her in this school. She has been bullied this whole year by this "teacher". Pay for private school, homeschool, or hire a tutor unless you want your once happy and bright child to become miserable while you watch them lose confidence in themselves and any love they once had for going to school.
