Summary

Brentfield Elementary in Dallas, TX, is a high-performing public school serving 815 students in grades PK-6 as part of the Richardson Independent School District (Isd), consistently ranking in the top 1-2% of Texas elementary schools for nearly a decade. This school stands out for its exceptional academic achievement, with test scores dramatically higher than both district and state averages—for example, 6th-grade Mathematics proficiency reached 82.47% compared to the district average of 50.29% and state average of 38.57%. What makes Brentfield particularly remarkable is its outstanding support for Special Education students, ranking in the 100th percentile statewide for this subgroup, and its efficiency in achieving top-tier results with lower spending per student ($8,523) compared to nearby peers like Spring Creek Elementary ($10,430) and Northwood Hills Elementary ($11,857).

While Brentfield excels overall, there are a few areas worth noting for parents. The school shows a slight dip in 5th-grade Mathematics, with proficiency at 74.31% in 2025-2026—still far above the state average of 47.38%, but the lowest score across all subjects and grades. Additionally, there is a concerning downward trend for students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, with rankings dropping from the 96th percentile in 2023-2024 to the 69th percentile in 2025-2026, suggesting the school may need to re-evaluate support systems for this population. Nearby schools like Mohawk Elementary and Arapaho Classical Magnet also perform well, but Brentfield's sustained excellence in the top 40 schools statewide for four of the last five years sets it apart.

The data reveals a stark contrast within the Richardson ISD area, where Brentfield, Spring Creek, and Mohawk form a cluster of high-performing schools, while Dover Elementary and Northwood Hills Elementary serve higher percentages of economically disadvantaged students and have drastically lower test scores. This highlights how school performance can vary significantly within the same district. For parents considering Brentfield, the school offers elite academics, strong special education support, and efficient resource use, though families should be aware of the slight math dip and the declining performance for low-income students to ensure their child's needs are fully met.

Open Quote Miserable experience! The kids are incredibly cliquish and mean. The environment is toxic and teachers, counselors and administrators do absolutely nothing about it. They are worthless! The good reviews are from selfish parents that wear blinders. As long as their kids are happy and have friends they don't care if there are other kids that suffer and I suffered! I witnessed other kids bullied so severely that they were sent to mental health clinic day schools for weeks at a time. In math class one day, I was sitting in the back row with a few others girls in the same row. A boy came behind the row and punched each girl in the head. I don't know if he punched me because I blocked the memory. I have PTSD. Why let kids do this to each other? Close Quote

Open Quote You will not find better quality in any other public schools. It is like a private school education with the cost of a public school education. I am an elementary school teacher myself in another district. I did my homework before buying a house, and this is by far the best I found. We've had nothing but wonderful experiences with Brentfield. Close Quote
