Summary

David D Jones Elementary is a public magnet elementary school in Greensboro, North Carolina, serving 689 students from pre-kindergarten to 5th grade. The school is part of the Guilford County Schools district, which is ranked 142 out of 242 school districts in the state.

Academically, David D Jones Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom half of North Carolina elementary schools over the past decade. The school's performance on state standardized tests is generally below the district and state averages, with significant disparities between student subgroups. While Hispanic and White students perform relatively well, African American and low-income students struggle, ranking in the bottom 40% and 10% of North Carolina elementary schools, respectively. The school's high percentage of students from low-income backgrounds and relatively low spending per student may be contributing factors to these challenges.

Interestingly, some of the nearby schools, such as Washington Elementary and Julius I Foust Elementary, are also performing poorly, while others, like John Van Lindley Elementary, are significantly outperforming the district and state averages. The school and district will need to closely examine the factors contributing to these performance disparities and implement targeted strategies to improve outcomes for all students at David D Jones Elementary.

Open Quote Our family has been lucky enough to have at least one child at Jones Spanish Immersion for the past 8 years. I believe this is one of the best elementary school options in Guilford County and while the curriculum is challenging, the kids thrive as they become fluent in Spanish. The staff, the teachers, the principal - all are responsive, dedicated, helpful, intelligent leaders. We are lucky to have this option for Guilford County Schools and I'm glad to see the school is as strong as ever. Close Quote
