Hahnville stands out for its exceptional graduation rate of 92.7%, which is significantly higher than the state average of 85.0% and even surpasses its in-district rival, Destrehan High School (86.1%). This consistent performance above 90% over the past five years, paired with a low dropout rate of 1.5%, shows the school is highly effective at keeping students on track to earn their diplomas. Academically, Hahnville delivers strong, well-rounded results across core subjects like Biology (76% proficiency vs. 60% statewide) and Geometry (73% vs. 57% statewide), and it boasts a low student-to-teacher ratio of 11.5:1, offering a more personalized learning environment than many nearby schools such as East Jefferson High School (19.6:1) and Riverdale High School (17.8:1).

While Destrehan High School often posts slightly higher test scores, Hahnville’s focus on supporting all students—including those who may struggle—makes it a compelling choice for families prioritizing completion and support. The school has shown a clear upward trajectory, climbing from the 45th percentile in 2017-2018 to its current 80th percentile ranking (64th out of 325 high schools in Louisiana). One area for improvement is chronic absenteeism at 12.4%, which, while well below the state average of 22.5%, is higher than the district average of 7.7%. In a region with significant educational disparities, Hahnville serves as an academic anchor, offering consistent, high-quality education in the western suburbs of the New Orleans metro area.

Open Quote I went there from 1978 to 1981. It was horrible. The jocks got all the attention. The rest of the student body was insignificant. The administration would make the rules, but the administration and teachers were the biggest rule breakers. Close Quote
