Summary

Frank Borman School is an elementary school serving grades PK-8 in the Cartwright Elementary District in Phoenix, Arizona, with 1,017 students. The school has consistently underperformed compared to state and district averages, ranking in the bottom 20% of Arizona elementary schools over the past decade.

Frank Borman School's academic performance is a significant concern, with only 13-30% of students proficient in English Language Arts and Math, compared to state averages of 36-46%. The school also struggles with high dropout rates, ranging from 2-6.1% in recent years, which is significantly higher than the state average. While nearby schools within the Cartwright Elementary District, such as Bret R. Tarver Leadership Academy and John F. Long, perform slightly better, they still lag behind state averages.

The persistent low performance at Frank Borman School suggests deep-rooted challenges that the school and district have struggled to address. The school's high concentration of disadvantaged student groups, including low-income, English Language Learners, and minority students, raises concerns about educational equity and access to quality resources and instruction. Targeted interventions and support focused on strengthening instructional quality, providing additional academic and social-emotional support, and addressing resource disparities may be necessary to drive meaningful change at Frank Borman School.

Open Quote This year my child really likes school. She had a few incidents and the principals at the school really worked with her. I was very happy. My student also loves a Mrs. Connley. She talks about fun activities she has all the time and how nice she is. This teacher has gone out of her way to help her lots of times. There has been a lot of good changes over the last 3 years. I can tell the principal really cares about the kids at this school. I am glad. Close Quote
