Sundance, Wyoming, has two schools serving grades K–12: Sundance Elementary (K–6) and Sundance Secondary School (grades 7–12), both in Crook County School District #1. Overall, students’ reported proficiency results are generally above state averages, and the schools show different subject strengths. The most important exception for families to note is grade 8 mathematics at Secondary: 43.3% proficient, 10.6 percentage points below the state and 12.5 below the district.
Sundance Elementary stands out in mathematics, averaging 83.5% proficient across its reported grades, compared with 60.4% statewide and 74.2% in the district. Sundance Secondary School is strongest in science and English language arts (ELA): its averages are 73.9% in science and 76.0% in ELA, respectively 23.2 and 19.1 points above state averages. Secondary’s mathematics average is also above the state, but results vary widely—from 79.4% in grade 7 to 43.3% in grade 8. Elementary science is a relative weak spot: its 61.1% result is above the state’s 56.2%, but below the district’s 65.1%.
