Summary

Wildwood Middle School is a public middle school located in Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia, serving grades 6-8 with a total enrollment of 406 students. The school is part of the Jefferson County Schools district, which is ranked 17 out of 55 districts in West Virginia and is rated 4 stars out of 5 by SchoolDigger.

Wildwood Middle School's performance has fluctuated over the years, with its statewide ranking ranging from 31st out of 173 West Virginia middle schools in 2014-2015 to 105th out of 169 in 2023-2024. In the most recent school year (2024-2025), the school ranked 66th out of 168 and received a 3-star rating. While the school's academic performance, as measured by the percentage of students proficient or better on the West Virginia Assessments, is generally below the state and district averages in both mathematics and English language arts across all grade levels, it appears to outperform the nearby schools in the Berkeley County Schools district.

One notable finding is the significant disparities in performance among different student subgroups at Wildwood Middle School. Male students generally perform better than female students, and African American and Hispanic students have lower rankings compared to other subgroups. However, special education and disabled students perform relatively well at the school. These disparities suggest the need for targeted interventions and support to address the achievement gaps and ensure equitable educational opportunities for all students.

Open Quote I have been at Wildwood since 2011 and it has changed over the years. Since 2012, school has been a terrible experience. There are fights at least once a week, graffiti everywhere, horrible teachers and administration, and they make the good kids suffer what the bad kids do. There are rules that a very little amount of students listen to and we almost never do anything fun. If I would give advice to parents that are transferring their kids to this school, my recommendation is: No. Some of the teachers do not get anything done and on the Westest, students do poorly on it.
