However, it trails several nearby schools with lower poverty or stronger outcomes: Whittier Elementary, Edgewood Elementary, Elm Dale Elementary, Bay View Montessori School, and Cooper Elementary. Whittier is especially striking: same district, 74th percentile, higher test scores, and only 9.7% chronic absenteeism.

English learners have ranked high—71st percentile in 2025–2026—but special education students ranked 11th percentile, and female and male students ranked 17th and 25th percentiles. Attendance has improved from 52.4% chronic absenteeism in 2021–2022 to 27.7%, yet it remains a relative weakness. Lowell is a small, high-poverty, well-resourced school that does better than several nearby high-poverty schools but still lags state averages and stronger nearby schools. The recent rank decline and weak 3rd-grade math are concerns; strong 5th-grade math, improving attendance, and high English-learner performance are encouraging.
