Summary

Fairview Elementary is a public elementary school serving grades PK-8 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with 628 students. The school is part of the Milwaukee School District, which is ranked 415 out of 426 districts in the state and has a 0-star rating from SchoolDigger. Fairview Elementary has consistently been ranked in the bottom 20% of Wisconsin elementary schools over the past 10 years, receiving a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Fairview Elementary faces significant challenges in terms of student achievement, attendance, and other key metrics. The school's test scores are significantly below the state and district averages across all grade levels and subject areas. For example, in 2024-2025, only 45.28% of 3rd graders were proficient or better in English Language Arts, compared to 52.14% statewide and 21.92% in the Milwaukee School District. Fairview Elementary also has extremely high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 17.7% to 50.4% over the past few years, much higher than the state and district averages.

Despite the high spending per student, which has increased from $12,590 in 2018-2019 to $14,589 in 2020-2021, Fairview Elementary has not shown significant improvement in its performance over the past 10 years. The school's rankings and ratings have remained consistently low, indicating a need for more effective interventions and strategies. Nearby schools, such as Whitman Elementary, which is also in the Milwaukee School District, have higher test scores and lower chronic absenteeism rates than Fairview Elementary.

Open Quote My son has been going to Fairview since K4. He is now in 5th grade. He loves his school and gets excellent grades. The teachers are wonderful. They have art, music, phy ed. There is band, choir, basketball, football, soccer, pompons. An all around fantastic school where the kids come first and parental involvement is outstanding! Close Quote

Open Quote Awesome school. I love the teachers. I love how they keep good control of the kids and do not allow any type of fighting to go on. You don't hear much profanity while the kids are outside playing. The volunteer support to help kids with their homework is great. Modest amount of homework sent home that doesn't stress the child or the rest of the family that has to wait for this to be completed. No homework over the weekends. They really show personal one on one with children that may be struggling and blend the classes with special ed instead of excluding or isolating them. I could go on and on about this school, but time will not allow. Great School!! Close Quote
