Laona High is a small public school in rural Laona, Wisconsin, serving 146 students in grades 6–12 as part of the Laona School District. The district ranks 221st of 432 Wisconsin districts (49th percentile, 2 stars), while the school earned a 2025–2026 rank of 255th of 533 schools (52nd percentile, 3 stars). That is a big long-term improvement: Laona sat in the bottom fifth of state schools in the early 2010s and as low as the 5th percentile in 2016–2017, then climbed to the 89th percentile in 2023–2024 and 81st in 2024–2025 before easing to 52nd. Nearby districts — Wabeno Area, Crandon, and Goodman-Armstrong Creek — all rank in the bottom fifth to bottom third, so Laona stands out locally.

Middle-school math is the clear academic strength.
