Summary

Denmark Middle is a 333-student school serving grades 6–8 in the small community of Denmark, Wisconsin, about 15–20 miles southeast of Green Bay, and it is the only middle school in the Denmark School District. Its most striking strength is attendance: chronic absenteeism has never exceeded 4.8% in five reported years, compared with a state rate that has ranged from 16% to 23%. In 2024–2025, it was 4.5%, far below nearby Green Bay schools such as Washington Middle (34.7%) and Franklin Middle (32.7%), and also lower than strong suburban peers like West De Pere Middle (6.4%) and Luxemburg-Casco Middle (6.9%).

Academically, math and science are consistent strengths. In 2025–2026, math proficiency was above the state at all three grade levels, including 8th grade at 71.20% versus 53.67% statewide, and science was also above state. The clear soft spot is 7th-grade English language arts, which came in at 48.39%, about 7 points below the state’s 55.33%; this is a district-wide pattern, not just a building issue. Compared with nearby schools, Denmark Middle’s 8th-grade math is nearly identical to Luxemburg-Casco Middle’s despite different demographics, and its 8th-grade results in math and social studies are ahead of Parkview Middle, West De Pere Middle, and Mishicot Middle, though well behind De Pere Middle and Luxemburg-Casco.

The school is also efficient with its budget: $12,992 per student and a 14:1 student–teacher ratio, less spending than nearly every peer in the comparison set while producing better results than similarly funded schools. Long term, rankings peaked in 2016–2017 and have settled in the 61st–73rd percentile range, with a 4-star year in 2023–2024 showing capacity for stronger performance.
