Reedsville School District

Reedsville School District is a small Wisconsin district serving 576 students across just two schools: Reedsville Elementary, which covers grades PK–6 with 320 students, and Reedsville Junior/Senior High School, which covers grades 7–12 with 256 students. There is no separate middle school and no alternative school, so grades 7 and 8 are housed in the junior/senior high. The district as a whole ranks 287 of 432 in Wisconsin, at the 34th percentile, with 2 stars — a rating that masks two very different schools.

Reedsville Elementary is the standout. Its rank climbed from the 48th percentile (2 stars) to the 54th (3 stars) to the 67th percentile (3 stars) over three years. In 2025–2026 it beat the state in 8 of 10 reported Forward Exam tests, with 4th grade particularly strong: ELA 72.22% vs 53.87%, Mathematics 80.56% vs 52.87%, Social Studies 80.56% vs 65.51%, and Science 66.67% vs 53.46%. All four tested elementary grades exceeded the state in math. Chronic absenteeism was 9.6%, well below the district's 14.4% and the state's 17.3%. Its weak spots are narrow but real: 5th grade ELA (47.62% vs 53.63%) and 6th grade ELA (54.17% vs 54.95%).

Reedsville Junior/Senior High School shows the opposite trend, falling from the 45th to the 38th to the 25th percentile, now at 1 star. Completion metrics are strong — a 95.6% graduation rate (state 92.0%) and a 0.0% dropout rate (state 1.1%) — but achievement lags: ACT ELA 31.82% vs 48.47%, Math 27.27% vs 42.93%, and Science 34.09% vs 43.20%. Chronic absenteeism is 19.4%, above state. Notably, the school spends $16,205 per student versus $14,486 at the elementary, with a lower student-teacher ratio (11.4 vs 12.9), and serves a lower free/reduced-lunch population (21.09% vs 35.62%) — so resources and economic need do not explain the gap. The bright spot: 7th and 8th grade Forward results improved sharply in 2025–2026, though 10th grade ACT and Social Studies results declined. Because cohorts are small, year-to-year swings should be read cautiously.
