Enrollment is concentrated in the elementary grades (696 students), with 411 at the high school and 286 at the middle school.

Ettrick Elementary is the district's breakout school and its only 5-star campus, climbing from the 57th percentile in 2023–2024 to the 94th percentile in 2025–2026 and ranking 60th of 1,039 elementary schools. It leads every reported elementary subject except 3rd grade math, with 5th grade math at 93.75% proficient and 4th grade science and social studies at 94.12%, though its small size (124 students) means scores can swing sharply year to year. Galesville-Ettrick-Trempealeau High rebounded from a 2-star year to 4 stars and the 73rd percentile, posting above-state ACT results in ELA, math, and science plus a 99.0% graduation rate and a 0.0% dropout rate.

Attendance is a district-wide strength: chronic absenteeism ranges from 1.8% to 3.7% at every school, far below the state's 17.3%. The clearest gaps are in elementary math — Galesville Elementary (40.54%) and Trempealeau Elementary (43.18%) both trail the state's 52.87% in 4th grade math, while Trempealeau's ELA remains above state and Galesville improved from the 35th to the 52nd percentile. Middle school 8th grade ELA (52% vs. 54.38%) and high school social studies (47.87% vs. 48.25%) sit just below state. Spending and class size do not map neatly onto results.
