The area offers substantial variation in school size, academic performance, and program type, with traditional schools alongside digital-learning, re-engagement, and technical-skills programs.

Sage Point Elementary School is the strongest overall academic performer, ranking in the 77th statewide percentile for three consecutive years and posting 59.63% proficiency in English language arts, 59.01% in math, and 76.47% in science. Other strong elementary options include Longview Elementary, Vicki I. Groff Elementary School, and Peninsula Elementary, all of which generally outperform district averages. Longview showed especially strong recent improvement. Results are more mixed at Park Orchard Elementary School, Garden Heights Elementary, and Lakeview Terrace Elementary, while Larson Heights Elementary, Knolls Vista Elementary, North Elementary, and Midway Elementary have lower overall proficiency.

At the secondary level, math is the clearest area of concern. Moses Lake High School has the strongest graduation profile, with an 89.2% graduation rate, although only 24.12% of students met the math standard. Columbia Middle School leads the middle schools academically, while Frontier Middle School has shown steady ranking improvement. Endeavor Middle School remains lower-performing but has also improved from a very low base. Digital Learning Center warrants close attention because of its low achievement, 72.7% graduation rate, and 16.6% dropout rate. Vanguard Academy, MLSD Open Doors Re-Engagement Program, and Columbia Basin Technical Skills Center serve specialized populations, so their results are best interpreted using program-specific expectations.
