West Valley High School is a public grades 9–12 school serving 1,494 students in the Yakima area as part of the West Valley School District (Yakima). The school ranks in the 64th percentile statewide, making it a solidly above-average option, although its current standing is below its 85th-percentile ranking in 2015–16.

The school’s clearest strength is English Language Arts: 71.17% of students are proficient, compared with 57.62% in the district and 52.81% statewide. Its latest science proficiency rate, 49.22%, is close to district and state levels. Mathematics is the major concern: only 29.08% of students are proficient, down from 36.42% in 2023–24 and below both the district’s 49.31% and the state’s 43.11%. Even so, Davis High School and Eisenhower High School report lower proficiency in ELA, math, and science. The bully problem is huge there especially since the freshman campus merged. They no longer have a dress code. Girls wear shorts dresses and skirts that show their bottoms, shirts are too tight, too short, or cut too low revealing the breasts. Boys often have pants or shorts that don't fit revealing their bum. Pickup or drop off students has become a nightmare since the merge. The parking lot wasn't designed to have so many vehicles. Parents are as if not more disrespectful than their child. Students there have an entitlement attitude about them. Special needs students seem tucked away from mainstream. Making it difficult to make friends especially if you're new to the district. The superintendent dismisses parents when they tell him about these things. If your of low or moderate income best to find sources to help with costs of electives, dances and yearbook costs. Close Quote
