That is an improvement from the 46th–49th percentiles and two stars in the prior two years. Truman’s ranking is stronger than the overall position of the Tacoma School District, which ranks in the 37th percentile statewide.

Academically, Truman is performing above the Tacoma district average in all three tested subjects. In 2025–2026, proficiency was 50.48% in English language arts, 34.21% in math, and 45.24% in science. ELA is the school’s clearest strength, improving each of the past three years and coming close to the state average. Science has also rebounded significantly, rising from 34.75% in 2023–2024 to 45.24%. Math remains the main challenge: although above the district rate, it is well below the state average, with seventh- and eighth-grade proficiency near 29%.
