Summary

Cascade K-8 Community School is a highly-rated K-8 public school in Shoreline, WA, serving about 200 students within the well-regarded Shoreline School District.

The school is a standout for its strong and consistent academic performance, particularly in science where student proficiency far exceeds state averages. It maintains this high achievement through the middle school grades, which is a notable strength of its K-8 model. Compared to other elementary schools in the Shoreline School District, like Echo Lake Elementary and Ridgecrest Elementary, Cascade K-8 shows significant advantages in test scores across all subjects.

While the school benefits from higher per-student funding and serves a community with lower economic need than many neighbors, its academic results are even stronger than these factors alone might predict. This suggests effective teaching and a stable school environment. For context, its performance is competitive with top schools in the neighboring Edmonds School District, such as Brier Elementary, though an exceptional outlier like Challenge Elementary achieves higher results with very different resources.

Open Quote This school weaves fun and excitement into academics. Kids are given opportunities to learn things with hands-on experiences and field trips. The school values nature and provides outdoor education with twice-yearly camps for all students. There is a strong emphasis on community, and we have become known for our strength and our ability to band together to accomplish wonderful things. I wouldn't send my kids anywhere else.
