Summary

Ferrucci Junior High is a public middle school serving about 815 students in grades 7-9 within the Puyallup School District, performing as a solidly average school in its district context while serving a student population with a higher level of economic need than many nearby schools.

The school shows notable strengths in supporting specific student groups, with particularly strong performance from its African American and military-connected students, and it has shown a steady decade-long trend of improvement. However, parents should be aware of a significant challenge in mathematics, where proficiency, especially in 8th grade, lags behind both state and district averages; science scores also trail the district average. An interesting pattern is that male students consistently outperform female students here, which is an unusual dynamic.

When compared to other junior highs in the Puyallup School District, like Kalles Junior High, Ferrucci performs similarly to most but ranks lower. Schools in the neighboring Sumner-Bonney Lake School District, such as Lakeridge Middle School and Mountain View Middle School, consistently achieve higher rankings and test scores. Despite these comparisons, Ferrucci's ability to achieve average outcomes while serving a community with greater economic need is a point of context for parents evaluating its performance.

Open Quote The majority of the staff are terrible and do not care about their students. Dresscode is extremely strict for female students. The staff does nothing for students effected by sexual harassment. Some Teachers gossip about their students. Only a handful of decent teachers and staff. I was continuously harassed by certain teachers and staff memebers. Ferrucci is truly one of the worst junior highs in the district. Close Quote
