Summary

Ferrucci Junior High is a public school in Puyallup serving 815 students in grades 7–9 and is part of the Puyallup School District, an area district that ranks around the 70th percentile statewide. Ferrucci ranks at the 58th percentile among Washington schools and has earned a three-star rating. Its long-term standing has improved substantially—from the 34th percentile in 2015–16—but recent results have been fairly steady in the upper half of the state.

For parents, the most important academic pattern is the difference between grades. In 2025–26, Ferrucci’s proficiency rates were 49.38% in English Language Arts, 39.63% in math, and 49.15% in science, all below district averages. However, math is a relative strength locally: Ferrucci ranked second among nearby Puyallup School District middle schools, behind only Kalles Junior High. Seventh-grade math was especially solid at 44.76%, above both district and state results, while eighth-grade math fell to 34.19%. ELA shows a similar gap, dropping from 54.07% in seventh grade to 44.44% in eighth grade. Science is an encouraging area: performance recovered from 38.82% in 2023–24 to 49.15% currently.

Ferrucci sits near the middle of its local comparison group. It is broadly similar to Glacier View Junior High and Ballou Junior High, trails Kalles Junior High, and currently exceeds Orting Middle School in all three subjects. Nearby Sumner-Bonney Lake School District schools—including Lakeridge Middle School, Mountain View Middle School, and Sumner Middle School—perform considerably better. Ferrucci’s relatively high student-teacher ratio and improving science results are positives, while eighth-grade ELA and math remain the clearest areas for improvement.

Open Quote The majority of the staff are terrible and do not care about their students. Dresscode is extremely strict for female students. The staff does nothing for students effected by sexual harassment. Some Teachers gossip about their students. Only a handful of decent teachers and staff. I was continuously harassed by certain teachers and staff memebers. Ferrucci is truly one of the worst junior highs in the district. Close Quote
