Summary

Connell Elementary is a K-6 public school serving 491 students in the rural community of Connell, Washington, as part of the North Franklin School District.

While the school's overall state ranking is in the lower quartile, it performs slightly better than the district average in English, math, and science. Compared to other schools in its own district, like Basin City Elementary and Mesa Elementary, Connell achieves these academic results while spending significantly less per student, suggesting efficient use of resources. The school also shows more consistent performance across different grade levels than some peers.

Notably, Connell Elementary has demonstrated a clear strength in supporting its migrant student population, who perform exceptionally well. The school has also shown steady, gradual improvement in its overall ranking over recent years. However, it faces a significant challenge in serving its special education students effectively, an area that has historically been weak. When compared to a school like Wahitis Elementary in the neighboring Othello School District, which has a similar student population, Wahitis achieves stronger academic outcomes, indicating that factors beyond demographics and spending are influencing results.

Open Quote Connell has a great instructional program, and the staff really care about the kids. Just because a school is located in a poor community with a lot of non-english speaking students doesn't mean it is a bad school! My kids went here and they are doing great in High School now! Lots of AP courses under their belts. Close Quote
