Summary

Lake Stickney Elementary School is a public K–5 school in Lynnwood serving 628 students in the Mukilteo School District. It is one of the larger elementary schools in the area, with a 15.8-to-1 student-teacher ratio and 59.55% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. The school’s recent results show meaningful improvement, but it continues to perform below Washington and district averages overall.

For 2025–26, proficiency was 47.09% in English language arts, 39.08% in math, and 43.64% in science. These results were below both district and state averages, with science showing the largest gap. The strongest pattern appears by grade: third graders performed above district and state averages in both ELA and math, while fourth- and fifth-grade results were considerably weaker. Fourth-grade math was a particular concern, at 31.62%, compared with 41.64% districtwide and 49.54% statewide. Still, all three subjects improved from the prior year, especially ELA, which rose by more than nine percentage points. The school’s ranking also improved to the 39th percentile, up from the 25th percentile in 2024–25.

Locally, Picnic Point Elementary and Serene Lake Elementary perform substantially better, particularly in math and science. However, Fairmount Elementary, Discovery Elementary, Olivia Park Elementary, and Odyssey Elementary generally have lower results. Lake Stickney also reports the lowest per-student spending among nearby schools with available data, at $18,774, and its student-teacher ratio is higher than most local comparisons. Overall, the school appears to be improving from a relatively weak position, with the clearest priorities being stronger fourth- and fifth-grade math and more consistent science performance.
