Summary

East Valley Central Middle School is a public school serving about 792 students in grades 6-8 in Yakima, Washington, as part of the East Valley School District (Yakima).

The school serves a community with significant economic need, yet it consistently achieves stronger academic results than many nearby schools with similar or even more advantaged student populations. For example, it significantly outperforms all middle schools in the Yakima School District, such as Washington Middle School and Lewis & Clark Middle School, and dramatically outperforms Wapato Middle School. It shows particular strength in supporting migrant students and those from low-income families, and its science scores are a relative strength compared to other subjects and area schools like Zillah Middle School.

While the school uses its resources efficiently compared to peers like West Valley Mid-Level Campus, it faces important challenges, including a significant need to improve support for students in special education. Parents should also note that the school's statewide ranking has declined in recent years, even as its test scores have remained relatively stable, indicating other schools are improving at a faster pace.

Open Quote as i look at the ratings for the school district, it seems to me instead of exploring the idea of building a new high school we(yes i have a child in the district)need to explore the idea of hiring teachers that can actually teach!. and by the looks of the report card, the district just keeps getting worse. time to clean house , start at the top (superintendant)and work your way down.
