Kamiakin High School is a public grades 9–12 school in Kennewick, Washington, serving 1,956 students in the Kennewick School District. It is a large comprehensive high school in the Tri-Cities area and remains one of the stronger nearby options, although its statewide standing has recently slipped. For 2025–2026, Kamiakin ranked in the 58th percentile statewide and received three stars, compared with rankings in the 76th–79th percentiles during the previous three reported years.

The school’s clearest strengths are graduation, dropout prevention, and English Language Arts. Its 2024–2025 graduation rate was 90.8%, ahead of the district’s 82.0% and the state’s 82.6%, while its 3.8% dropout rate was well below both. In 2025–2026, 67.94% of students were proficient in ELA, compared with 61.90% at Southridge High School, 57.53% at Kennewick High School, and 52.25% at Chiawana Senior High School. Kamiakin also led those large comparison schools in math, with 34.38% proficiency, though that result was below the 43.11% state rate.

Math is an ongoing concern because proficiency declined from 42.86% in 2022–2023 to 34.38% most recently. Science requires especially close attention: proficiency fell sharply from 68.53% in 2024–2025 to 39% in 2025–2026, below district and state results and behind both Southridge and Kennewick High. The school also has a relatively high student-teacher ratio of 24.9 to 1. Subgroup results are mixed: outcomes for migrant and multi-racial students rank relatively strongly, while the low-SES subgroup fell to the 29th percentile and the Hispanic subgroup to the 43rd percentile. Overall, Kamiakin offers strong completion outcomes and notably good ELA performance, but families should watch its math, science, and targeted-support results.
