Summary:

Issaquah Valley Elementary is a public elementary school in Issaquah, Washington, serving 602 students from kindergarten to 5th grade. It is part of the highly-ranked Issaquah School District, which is ranked 3rd out of 249 districts in the state.

Issaquah Valley Elementary consistently performs well academically, ranking in the top 20% of Washington elementary schools. In the 2022-2023 school year, 65.84% of students were proficient or better in English Language Arts, compared to the state average of 52.86%, and 63.83% were proficient or better in Math, compared to the state average of 41.04%. The school's 5th-grade students particularly excel, outperforming the state and district averages in both subjects. However, the school's performance for students with special education needs and low socioeconomic status is relatively lower, ranking in the middle 50% of Washington elementary schools.

While Issaquah Valley Elementary has a diverse student population, with higher percentages of Hispanic and African American students compared to nearby schools like Endeavour Elementary, Discovery Elementary, Sunny Hills Elementary, and Grand Ridge Elementary, its academic performance lags behind these higher-performing schools. This may be due to factors such as a higher percentage of students from lower-income families, which could impact access to resources and academic support.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I have following up with the principal for months regarding kids get bulleted at school, however, the school management did very minimul to it as to take it seriously. They do not give you feed back on how they deal with the situation or to remedy it happen. The situation get worse and worse and no response from school Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
