Concrete Elementary

Concrete Elementary is a public K–5 school serving 308 students in the small community of Concrete, Washington, in the Concrete School District. The school ranks 1,011th out of 1,138 Washington schools, placing it at the 11th percentile with a one-star rating. Its district ranks 205th out of 238 districts, at approximately the 14th percentile statewide. These results place the school and district in the lower portion of Washington’s rankings.

In 2025–26, Concrete’s proficiency rates were 24.58% in English language arts, 18.64% in math, and 25.93% in science—below both state results and those of nearby Lyman Elementary School, about 14 miles away. Lyman serves grades K–6 and ranks at the 52nd percentile statewide. Its proficiency rates were 50% in ELA, 36.05% in math, and 60% in science. Concrete’s results also declined from the previous year, particularly in ELA and science. Third grade is the clearest area of concern, with 15.56% proficient in ELA and 13.33% in math. Per-student spending was slightly higher than Lyman’s, so spending alone does not explain the achievement difference. The most important questions for the school appear to involve third-grade literacy and math, improving ELA instruction, rebuilding science performance, and maintaining consistent staffing and interventions.
