Summary:

Sedro-Woolley School District serves about 4,514 students in 10 schools, from elementary through high school, in the Sedro-Woolley area of Washington. The district includes seven elementary schools, one middle school, and two high schools. Overall, the district ranks 159th of 238 Washington districts, placing it around the 33rd percentile. School performance varies considerably, so families may want to compare individual schools rather than rely only on the district average.

Among elementary schools, Clear Lake Elementary School is the strongest overall performer, ranking in the 72nd percentile and earning four stars. It leads the district in both English language arts and math proficiency. Lyman Elementary School is another strong option, particularly in science, where 60% of students were proficient. Mary Purcell Elementary School has shown the largest three-year ranking improvement and performs above the district average in ELA and science. Central Elementary School is a relative math strength. In contrast, Evergreen Elementary School, Big Lake Elementary School, and Samish Elementary School merit attention because of lower or recently declining results.

At the secondary level, Sedro Woolley Senior High School has a strong 94.2% graduation rate, although math achievement remains weak. Cascade Middle School trails district averages in ELA, math, and science, with especially notable weakness among eighth graders. State Street High School is the most urgent area for review, reporting a 50% graduation rate, a 15.6% dropout rate, and low science proficiency; its math result was suppressed and should be treated as unknown. Overall, math is the most consistent challenge in middle and high school, while elementary science is a relative district strength.
