Liberty Middle School is a public school serving 857 students in grades 6–8 in Spanaway, an area with several nearby middle-school options, and is part of the Bethel School District. Liberty ranks at the 48th percentile statewide, placing it near the middle of Washington middle schools and among the larger Bethel schools. Its ranking has improved substantially from the 29th percentile in 2020–21, reaching its strongest point in the available history in 2025–26.

Academically, Liberty’s profile is mixed but improving. English Language Arts proficiency was 48.76%, close to the Bethel district average and higher than results at Spanaway Middle School, Bethel Middle School, and Cedarcrest Middle School. ELA was particularly strong in eighth grade, at 51.53%. Science was another bright spot: Liberty’s 45.63% proficiency was above the district average and higher than most nearby Bethel schools, including Frontier Middle School.
