The school is distinguished by its consistent, elite academic standing, currently ranked 7th out of over 400 high schools in the state, and it demonstrates remarkable strength across all student groups. Newport excels in graduating students, with a 95.5% graduation rate and a very low 2.7% dropout rate, outperforming nearby schools like Interlake Senior High School (79.5% graduation) and Sammamish Senior High (86.3% graduation). Its science proficiency is particularly notable at nearly 87%, surpassing most district peers and competing closely with top-ranked schools like International School and Mercer Island High School.

Newport achieves these top-tier results while serving a more socioeconomically diverse population than some of its highest-ranked competitors and does so with efficient use of resources, spending less per student than several other schools in the Bellevue School District. The school's model of supporting excellence for all learners—including those in special education, English language learning, and economically disadvantaged programs—makes it a standout for comprehensive, equitable achievement within an already high-performing district.

Open Quote NHS is a rigorous high school, with many courses which suit different rigors. There are many clubs and tutoring is available for struggling students. We are excited that our 2 kids went there. Close Quote

Open Quote Newport High School in Bellevue, Wa is the equivalent to a public college prep High school. It is academically rigorous while also offering a very wide range of social and community service oriented clubs and activities. It also offers some incredible specialized programs in Computer networking (CISCO program) with certifications, Culinary Programs and also a great program for kids that are on the spectrum of Autism. My oldest graduated from Newport (NOT at the top of her class) and returned home from her first year of college wondering why her peers (from around the country) had such a difficult time their freshman year of college. Newport prepared her so well, that it made the transition easy! Close Quote
