Summary:
The Toledo School District serves students in grades PK–12 through four schools: one elementary, one middle, and two high schools, with 906 students listed overall. Toledo Elementary School enrolls the most students, followed by Toledo High School, Toledo Middle School, and the much smaller Cowlitz Prairie Academy, which serves grades 7–12.
Toledo High School has the strongest current overall profile, ranking at the 47th percentile in Washington. Its English language arts proficiency is 66.67%, well above the state rate of 52.81%, and its 92% graduation rate is considerably higher than the statewide 82.6%. However, math and science results are weaker, at 30.51% and 31.25%. Toledo Elementary School ranks at the 37th percentile and stands out for math and science: its math proficiency is nearly equal to the state rate, while science proficiency of 53.03% is above the state. Its main challenge is ELA, particularly third grade.
Toledo Middle School is the clearest area of concern. It ranks at the 18th percentile, with ELA, math, and science proficiency all below district and state levels; eighth-grade math is especially low at 17.54%. Its declining ranking and weaker results suggest that the transition into and through middle school deserves focused support. Current test scores for Cowlitz Prairie Academy are suppressed, so its academic performance cannot be fairly compared. Overall, families will find the district’s strongest results in high-school ELA and graduation, promising elementary math and science performance, and the greatest need for improvement at the middle-school level.
