Medical Lake School District

Medical Lake School District serves about 1,842 students in four schools covering prekindergarten through grade 12 in the Medical Lake area: two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Overall, the district ranks 56th out of 238 Washington districts, placing it in the 76th percentile.

Medical Lake Middle School is the district’s strongest current performer, ranking in the 81st percentile and improving significantly from the previous year. Its English language arts, math, and science results all exceed district and state comparisons. Medical Lake High School ranks in the 72nd percentile and reports an excellent 96.3% graduation rate. It performs well in English language arts and science, although math is a clear area for improvement, with 38.1% of students proficient. Among the elementary schools, Michael Anderson Elementary School ranks higher than Hallett and stands out in science, where 75% of students are proficient. Its fifth-grade results are also particularly strong.

Hallett Elementary School ranks in the 49th percentile and has experienced the largest recent ranking decline. Its science performance remains above the state rate, but English language arts and math are below district comparisons, especially in math. Across the district, science is the most consistent strength, with every school exceeding the state science proficiency rate. Math is the most important common concern: results are below 50% at both elementary schools and the high school. Parents may want to look closely at school-specific support in math and literacy while also considering the middle school’s strong improvement, the high school’s graduation success, and the elementary differences in science and fifth-grade achievement.
