Entiat School District

Entiat School District serves about 436 students in two schools covering grades PK–12 in the small Entiat-area community: Paul Rumburg Elementary serves prekindergarten through 5th grade, while Entiat Middle and High School serves grades 6–12. The district ranks 109th of 238 Washington districts, near the statewide midpoint, but the two schools have notably different recent performance profiles.

Entiat Middle and High School is the district’s stronger-performing school. It received four stars and ranked in the 73rd percentile statewide in 2025–26, compared with one star and the 18th percentile for Paul Rumburg Elementary. The secondary school improved in all three tested subjects: ELA reached 45.16%, math 42.62%, and science 39.62%. Its math result was nearly equal to the state average, and 10th-grade math exceeded the state rate by more than 12 percentage points. Its 85% graduation rate was also above the statewide rate of 82.6%. Parents should note that middle-grade ELA remains below state results, although the school’s overall direction is encouraging.

Paul Rumburg Elementary is the main area for improvement. In 2025–26, its ELA proficiency was 27.27%, math 32.41%, and science 31.25%, all below district and state averages, and each subject declined from the prior year. ELA was the largest concern, especially in 3rd grade, while 5th-grade math was also very low at 16.13%. Results were uneven, however: 4th-grade math reached 46.34%, relatively close to the state rate. Both schools have similar student-teacher ratios, and the elementary school serves a higher share of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. Overall, families may view the secondary school as the district’s current strength, while elementary literacy and upper-elementary math are the clearest priorities for added support.
