Central Kitsap School District’s 12 elementary schools serve about 4,839 students in the Central Kitsap area, with most offering pre-kindergarten through fifth grade and Woodlands Elementary serving kindergarten through fifth grade. Overall, the schools show strong science and mathematics results compared with Washington averages, but performance varies considerably from one school to another. The district ranks 59th of 238 Washington districts, placing it in the 75th percentile.

Emerald Heights Elementary is the clear academic leader, ranking 80th statewide and in the 93rd percentile. It has the district’s highest ELA and math results—81.53% and 75.30%—as well as very strong science performance. Brownsville Elementary is the strongest all-around alternative, with results above district and state averages in every subject. Cottonwood Elementary School is notable for improving 220 statewide ranking positions over two years and currently exceeds district averages in ELA, math, and science. Silverdale Elementary stands out for mathematics, while Green Mountain Elementary is a balanced performer above district averages in all three subjects.

Parents should also consider the differences among schools and grade levels. Math is a broad district strength: 10 of 12 schools exceed the district’s 42.99% all-grade result, although fifth-grade math frequently drops below earlier grades. Science improved substantially year over year, led by gains at Clear Creek Elementary School and Green Mountain. Esquire Hills Elementary has made steady ranking gains and performs well in math despite serving a higher-need student population. Pinecrest Elementary has improved, especially in math, but remains below district averages. Woodlands Elementary currently has the greatest academic concerns, with the lowest ELA and science results. Results at John D. Bud Hawk Elementary at Jackson Park, Silver Ridge Elementary, and Cougar Valley Elementary fall between these ranges, with subject-specific strengths and weaknesses worth reviewing.
