Summary

Westridge Elementary in Woodbridge, VA, is a PK–5 school serving 642 students as part of Prince William County Public Schools, a district ranked 46th out of 131 in Virginia. Westridge Elementary itself performs well above the district average, earning a 4-star rating and ranking 242nd out of 1,111 Virginia elementary schools (78th percentile) in 2025–2026, after ranking 168th (85th percentile) the year before. The school scores above both district and state averages on every single SOL test, with an overall proficiency rate of about 83.5% compared to 71.6% statewide. Its 4th-grade Virginia Studies results are a standout: 91.8% proficiency versus 70.5% statewide.

What truly sets Westridge apart is how it serves its students. It ranks #1 in Virginia for military-connected students, a significant strength given the school's location in the Woodbridge/Fort Belvoir area, and its low-income students rank in the 83rd percentile statewide despite 70.25% of the student body qualifying for free/reduced lunch. English learners also perform well, ranking in the 77th–80th percentile. Chronic absenteeism is just 8.9%, well below the district (13.8%) and state (14.8%) averages. Westridge achieves these results while spending $10,450 per student — about $4,500 less than nearby Enterprise Elementary and Bel Air Elementary, both of which rank in the 30th percentile despite serving similar student populations.

Compared to other nearby schools, Westridge holds its own against Old Bridge Elementary, a school with nearly half the poverty rate just 1.7 miles away — Westridge actually beats it in 4th-grade math and Virginia Studies. Within a cluster of ten area elementary schools, Westridge sits in the top group alongside Sonnie Penn Elementary and Old Bridge. Two areas families may want to watch: Asian students (46th percentile) and disabled students (65th percentile) don't perform at the same exceptional level as other subgroups, and the school's free/reduced lunch rate jumped sharply this year. Overall, though, Westridge remains a strong, stable choice that delivers impressive results for the families it serves.

Open Quote This school is fantastic... if you are a Caucasian family with one stay-at home parent. Otherwise, the staff will not respond to emails, you will never be chosen to volunteer or chaperone no matter how many times you sign up to do so, your child will be denied access to the gifted program despite ranking in the 99th percentile on an intelligence test, your child will be referred to by their last name by the school nurse, and threatened with expulsion for "attendance issues" after missing one day of school. Also, if you are Hispanic, the teachers will assume that you must be poor, and cannot afford to be an at home parent. They will actually say this to your face in a parent-teacher conference. Open Quote Our daughter has been at this school for 2 years (2nd & 3rd grade) and we have had all positive experiences. The principal and front office staff are over the top friendly and willing to help out with questions, concerns and ideas. The teachers that I have worked with are extremely driven and truly take time to cultivate each child at their academic level. I love the diversity in the classrooms. Many countries are represented in just her classroom alone. This year the class sizes got too large for 3rd grade...but administration stepped in and hired another teacher to ensure kids could get the one on one attention needed. On top of a fantastic school...the community itself is just wonderful. Very active PTA also. Close Quote
