As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This was our first school year at Lowes Island Elementary school, and I am truly pleased and satisfied with the quality of education and amount of parent involvement at this school. We've all heard the saying, "It takes a village." Well, that is truly in place at Lowes. I am amazed at the amount of parent volunteers at the school and in the classroom week after week. Having so much involvement really makes a difference for everyone. It's so much easier to take turns amongst the parents as opposed to being one of three usual suspects in the classroom. On a different note, the school is so clean and well run. That means a lot to me as a parent for my child to be spending their days in clean environment as well as educational. Bottom line, Lowes is truly a model school from the principal, specials, teachers, parents, and students. Close Quote

Open Quote This is my son's 6th year at LIES, he is finishing 5th grade and my younger son is going to start it this Fall. We have had nothing but positive experience with this school! We absolutely love it and we can't think of a better place for our kids to start their education, we are very lucky to be living in this area near this great school! The teachers and office personnel are absolutely wonderful, helpful, caring, attentive! I would have given this school 6 stars if I could! The principal is great, always very friendly, remembers students by their names (!), kids love him! Highly recommend this school! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
