That places it solidly above average, but behind several nearby schools: Eagle Ridge Middle ranks 19th, Harmony Middle ranks 46th, and Watson Mountain Middle ranks 67th. Blue Ridge's ranking has swung over the years — from 41st in 2015–16 to 156th in 2020–21, rebounding to 46th in 2024–25 before settling at 85th.

Blue Ridge's genuine strengths are advanced math and literacy. Algebra I proficiency is 100% for both 7th and 8th graders, and Geometry is 98%. Reading is also strong: 8th-grade reading hit 84% in 2025–26 (vs. 73.5% statewide) and reached 90.95% the previous year. The school serves students with disabilities well, ranking in the 75th percentile for that group.
