The school's ranking has been volatile over the past several years, peaking at the 55th percentile in 2017–2018 before falling and recovering at various points, most recently dropping from the 48th percentile in 2024–2025 to 32nd in 2025–2026.

In most subjects and grade levels, Belle View's SOL proficiency rates fall below both the FCPS district average and the Virginia state average. Fifth grade math has been a persistent weak spot for three straight years.
