Carver Middle consistently performs below the Chesterfield County and Virginia state averages across various subject areas and grade levels. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, Carver Middle's proficiency rates were significantly lower than the district and state in mathematics and English reading. The school also has consistently high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 15.6% to 23.3% over the past few years, which is significantly higher than the state average. These schools tend to have higher academic proficiency rates, lower chronic absenteeism, and a lower percentage of students from low-income backgrounds. While Carver Middle's per-student spending is comparable to these nearby schools, the school's student-teacher ratio has remained relatively high, suggesting the need for targeted interventions and additional resources to support student learning and well-being.

Open Quote My daughter is thriving at Carver Middle School. I can't say enough about the teachers, I've been very impressed with the curriculum, the use of technology to make learning easier and more effective and the steps taken by the teachers and administrators to make the school a safe and nurturing environment. I was anxious for my child going into middle school, leftover feelings of unease from my middle school days. I was quickly assured as I see a spark in her that I never have before, better grades than ever and a willingness to take learning more seriously. I owe this to Carver Middle School Close Quote

Open Quote Some teachers are unfairly disciplining some students for every little minor infraction but letting other kids get by. Seems like some discrimination might be going on here. I had high hopes for my child here but now I cannot wait to get my child out of this school. Close Quote
