Red Hills Middle is a public school serving 503 students in grades 6–8 in Richfield, a central Utah community, and is part of Sevier District. The school ranks 91st of 217 Utah schools, placing it at the 58th percentile with a three-star rating. This is an improvement from the 43rd percentile the previous year and from a low point at the 33rd percentile in 2022–2023.

The school’s clearest academic strength is science: proficiency was 60.8% in sixth grade, 64.5% in seventh grade, and 64.6% in eighth grade in 2025–2026, above the state in every grade. English Language Arts was also stronger in seventh and eighth grade than statewide, although sixth-grade ELA was slightly below the state. Mathematics is the main concern, especially sixth grade, where 25.5% of students were proficient compared with 37.4% statewide. Red Hills also had a particularly strong statewide effectiveness ranking for students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, placing 27th of 139 schools, at the 81st percentile.

Attendance is an important challenge. Chronic absenteeism was 37.5% in 2024–2025, higher than Sevier District, Utah overall, and each nearby comparison school. South Sevier Middle, the strongest same-district comparison, ranked 56th statewide and had stronger overall mathematics and science results. Fillmore Middle ranked 48th and had much lower chronic absenteeism, while North Sevier Middle ranked 138th and had weaker science results. Overall, Red Hills appears to be improving, with notable strengths in science, upper-grade ELA, and support for economically disadvantaged students, while sixth-grade transition support, math instruction, and attendance remain the most important areas for growth.

My grandson is in 8th grade at this school. There are 35 students in his class. The teacher admitted that he has that many students every class. He has 8 classes and the school uses the A &B schedule. The teacher told my daughter he does NOT have the time to spend any individual help to any student. They just have to try and keep up. Turn in their paper only if they get one problem correct and then do extra credit. WHAT KIND OF EDUCATION IS THAT? Close Quote
