Summary

Wasatch School is a public K–6 elementary school in Salt Lake City’s central area, serving 387 students at 30 R Street as part of the Salt Lake District. For 2025–2026, it ranks 187th out of 563 Utah schools, placing it in the 67th percentile and earning three stars. That is still above the statewide midpoint, but it is a noticeable change from the school’s previous results: 43rd in 2024–2025, 31st in 2023–2024, and 19th in 2021–2022. The school is located in an unusually strong local group, so its statewide ranking may look more modest when compared with nearby high-performing schools.

Current test results show that Wasatch School remains stronger than district and state averages in most areas. Average proficiency was 56.9% in English language arts, 50.9% in math, and 59.5% in science. English results exceeded district and state rates in all reported grades, while math was stronger than the district in grades 3, 4, and 5. Grade 4 math was a particular strength at 71.4%, and grade 6 science reached 71.7%. The clearest concerns are grade 6 math at 26.4% and grade 5 science at 40.9%. By comparison, Indian Hills School, Bonneville School, Uintah School, Dilworth School, and Ensign School all rank substantially higher statewide.

Attendance is another important consideration. Chronic absenteeism at Wasatch School improved to 28.6% in 2024–2025, slightly better than the district’s 29.3% but above Utah’s 23.8%. It remains much higher than the rates reported at Uintah School, Dilworth School, and Bonneville School. Wasatch’s 20.3-to-1 student-teacher ratio is also not especially low compared with nearby alternatives. Overall, the school appears to be a historically strong school experiencing an uneven year rather than a uniformly weak one. Parents may want to ask how the school is addressing sixth-grade math, fifth-grade science, attendance, and the recent drop in statewide ranking while preserving its stronger upper-grade ELA and fourth-grade math practices.
