Delta North School

Delta North School is a public elementary school in Delta, Utah, serving 427 students in grades 2–4 as part of the Millard District, a four-star district ranked 27th among 92 Utah districts.

The school has a mixed academic profile. Its statewide ranking was at the 48th percentile in 2025–2026, down from the 70th percentile in 2021–2022. Third-grade literacy is the clearest concern: 35.4% of students were proficient in English language arts, compared with 46.6% statewide. Third-grade math was stronger than the district rate but below the state average, with 45.4% proficient. Fourth-grade results are more encouraging. Mathematics proficiency was 54.6%, above the state’s 50.4%, and science proficiency was 61.6%, well above the state’s 52.6%. Fourth-grade science has exceeded the state average in every reported year. The school also ranked in the 70th percentile statewide for effectiveness with students from low-income households, an important strength to preserve.

Attendance and staffing trends are improving. Chronic absenteeism fell from 22.1% to 18.9% between 2023–2024 and 2024–2025, though it remains higher than the district’s 13.7% rate. Compared with nearby Delta South School, which serves pre-kindergarten through first grade, Delta North had lower chronic absenteeism in 2024–2025—18.9% versus 23.0%—but a higher student-teacher ratio, 19.1 versus 17.5. The schools serve similar socioeconomic populations, so Delta South offers useful context, but their different grade levels make direct academic comparisons inappropriate. Overall, Delta North’s most promising improvement strategy is to build on its fourth-grade math and science strengths while targeting third-grade reading and math.
