Summary

Orem High is a public high school in Orem, Utah, serving 1,225 students in grades 10–12. Located in a community with several nearby traditional and specialized high schools, it is part of the Alpine District, which ranks in the 65th percentile statewide. Orem High currently ranks 100th of 139 Utah high schools, in the 28th percentile, and has a 1-star rating for 2025–26. This is a significant change from 37th place and the 73rd percentile in 2023–24.

The school’s clearest strengths are graduation and student persistence. Its 2024–25 graduation rate was 94.5%, higher than the Alpine District rate of 92.7% and Utah’s 89.8%. Its dropout rate was 3.7%, well below the district’s 5.7% and the state’s 8.5%. Orem’s graduation rate was also higher than nearby Pleasant Grove High, Timpview High, Timpanogos High, and Mountain View High. However, chronic absenteeism remains a concern: 24.5% of students were chronically absent, compared with 20.8% in the district. Although this was the lowest rate among the main Alpine comparison schools, it still represents roughly one in four students.

Academic achievement is Orem High’s biggest current challenge. In the latest 10th-grade results, 41.8% of students met expectations in English language arts, 26.5% in mathematics, and 29.9% in science—below both district and state averages in every subject. Results fell from the previous year across all three areas, while subgroup-effectiveness rankings also declined sharply. Orem trailed nearby Pleasant Grove High in all three subjects and generally lagged Timpanogos High and Mountain View High. Its results were stronger than Provo High in English language arts and mathematics, though lower in science. Overall, Orem appears effective at helping students reach graduation but needs to improve daily attendance and classroom achievement.
