Open Quote My experience at Cooper has been amazing! I love Cooper from the academics to the extracurricular activities to the people. The community at Cooper, although an academically rigorous school, is supportive and collaborative. Students at Cooper have a love for learning and strive to go above and beyond course requirements. There are also numerous clubs and activities on campus to get involved in such as STEM club, Model UN, and Interact to name a few. These clubs are student-run and work to foster a safe environment where students can pursue their interests and encourage others to do the same. Interact, the school’s community service club, is one of my favorite clubs on campus as it works to make a change in the community and help those in need. Through Interact I have had the opportunity to volunteer at the local Veggie Village garden as well as volunteer at the local Montgomery County Food Bank. Overall, I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Cooper! Close Quote

Open Quote I enjoy being a student at The John Cooper because it gives me a sense of comfort and community. They offer many courses with multiple levels, so you’re able to find the one that has the right amount of challenge for you. They also give into your personal interests, whether it be theater, art, science, or mathematics, by supporting a variety of different clubs, which include a student board. They don’t limit you there either. You have the choice to participate in multiple clubs and still have the time to focus on academics and sports! This definitely helps create a community where the students have a voice and can be inspired. The teachers take time and effort to make a welcoming environment where you feel safe asking questions, making suggestions, and they prepare you for what to expect. Teachers are passionate and excited about educating and helping students, which fuels our love for certain classes. The student community comes together during sports and other activities to support our own. We help and inspire each other, and that makes it worth being a Cooper Dragon! Close Quote

Open Quote Being a student at Cooper gives me a unique and motivating mindset in my studies through the supportive teachers, multiple academic opportunities, and the kind community. The teachers at Cooper show that they care for my wellbeing by offering extra help when needed, and by better preparing me for tests and assignments. Cooper’s multiple classes let me discover new interests, such as photography and design. Also, Cooper has numerous clubs, with one of my favorites being Medical Professions at Cooper (MPAC), which is where medical professionals come to speak about their career. Cooper also creates a community that inspires kindness and responsibility. One way they achieve this is through Student to Student (S2S), which is an organization that strives to help new students adjust and become a part of the community. Altogether, the teachers, classes, and students create a one of a kind school experience that I love! Close Quote

Open Quote In the last four years I have been at The John Cooper School, I have not only witnessed but experienced the incredible opportunities every student is able to receive whether it is in the classroom, on the field, or on stage. I remember on the first day at Cooper, I was overwhelmed with all the options of classes and activities. I ended up joining a variety of clubs, the volleyball team, and participated in our school’s musical. While my academic classes are challenging, I work hard because it’s clear that my teachers want me to be successful. My friends push me to succeed and I feel support from all around. This is the kind of school where students feel a part of a community that is kind and caring so we are willing to take risks and be challenged with the knowledge that we will be better in the long run for it. Cooper has not only prepared me for university but to be a successful person in the future. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
