Summary

Weatherford High School is a large public high school in Weatherford, TX, serving 2,427 students in grades 9-12 as part of the Weatherford Independent School District (Isd). The school holds a consistent 3-star rating, indicating solid, average performance compared to other Texas high schools, with a strong graduation rate consistently above 95% and a very low dropout rate.

When compared to nearby schools, Weatherford High School is positioned as a middle-of-the-pack option. It significantly underperforms in Algebra I, with only 34.2% of students proficient, far below the state average (54.03%) and schools like Millsap High School (63.33%) and Peaster High School (58.54%). However, it performs well in Biology and U.S. History, often matching state averages. The school's 3-star rating and 53rd percentile rank contrast sharply with top-tier neighbors like Aledo High School (92nd percentile, 5 stars) and Brock High School (90th percentile, 4 stars), making Weatherford a more average choice for families prioritizing top academic outcomes.

An interesting finding is the disconnect between Weatherford's high graduation rate and its inconsistent test scores, particularly in Algebra I, suggesting students may meet graduation requirements without achieving mastery in key subjects. The school also faces challenges with specific student groups, including English Language Learners and those from low socioeconomic backgrounds, who perform below the school's overall rating. Despite these challenges, Weatherford maintains a stable graduation rate and offers a solid educational foundation, though families seeking top-tier academic performance may find neighboring districts more attractive.

Open Quote Unexperienced assistant principal. Her solution to everything (even sneezing) is to suspend or send students to alternative school. Very unprofessional and unresponsive to parent concerns. Your inquiries will go unanswered and ignored. So much of our tax money goes to this school, they should hire experienced and attentive staff. Very disgusted with this school. This should be your last choice. Close Quote
