Summary

White Rock Elementary is a highly performing public school in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas, TX, serving 868 students in grades PK through 5 as part of the Richardson Independent School District (Isd).

White Rock Elementary has a long track record of academic excellence, consistently ranking among the top 5-6% of elementary schools in Texas over the past decade. The school stands out for its exceptional support for special education students, ranking in the 99th percentile statewide, and also performs strongly for male and Hispanic students. With a low student-to-teacher ratio of 13.3:1, the school achieves STAAR test scores that are dramatically higher than both district and state averages—for example, 5th-grade reading proficiency was 85.48% compared to the district's 60.35%. Nearby Lake Highlands Elementary is a close competitor, also earning a 5-star rating, while Skyview Elementary (just two miles away) ranks in the 1st percentile, highlighting the wide range of outcomes within the same district.

One of the school's most notable success stories is its dramatic turnaround for English Language Learners, who went from the 0th percentile in 2018-2019 to the 73rd percentile by 2023-2024. However, the school faces a persistent challenge in closing the achievement gap for its economically disadvantaged students, who ranked in the 26th percentile. Despite this, White Rock achieves its exceptional results with relatively efficient spending ($9,033 per student), which is lower than nearby schools like Jill Stone Elementary At Vickery Meadow ($13,689 per student). The school's ability to address this equity gap will determine whether it can move from being excellent for most students to excellent for all.

Open Quote DO NOT GO HERE!!! The parents of this school are the most racist people you will meet. The fought and fought and fought too have apartment building removed from their district because "the children from apartments are gross and we do not want our children around them". WHAT A DISGRACE! What kind of example is this setting for the people of the future?! If I could give this school zero stars, I would. Close Quote
