Lockhart Pride High School

Public Grades 10-12
Summary

Lockhart Pride High School is a small public high school in Lockhart, Texas, serving grades 8-12 with only 67 students. Despite its relatively high per-student spending, the school has consistently ranked in the bottom 10% of Texas high schools over the past decade, with a 0 or 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Lockhart Pride High School significantly underperforms compared to the Lockhart Independent School District (ISD) and the state of Texas on STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) exams, particularly in core subjects like English and Math. The school's graduation rates have been inconsistent, ranging from 71.6% to 90.7%, and its dropout rates have been high, ranging from 2.6% to 11.1% - significantly worse than the nearby Lockhart High School, which had an 85.7% graduation rate and 2.6% dropout rate in 2022-2023.

Lockhart Pride High School serves a student population that is predominantly Hispanic and from low socioeconomic backgrounds, which may contribute to the school's challenges. However, the school's persistent underperformance compared to nearby schools and the state of Texas highlights the need for a comprehensive review of the school's strategies, resource allocation, and support systems to improve outcomes for its students.

Open Quote I went to Lockhart PRIDE High School and because of the self paced classes I was able to catch up and graduate ahead of my class. I passed the TAKS tests my first time, and enjoyed the different teachers and staff as well as the numerous classes i was offered. Close Quote
