As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Coming into the area 3 years ago, we had high hopes of LCISD. We had heard so many great things about the district, their long term goals and the teachers. At this point, we are very disappointed in our experience at Cora Thomas. First and foremost, the lack of communication from school to home unacceptable. Teachers often complain that there is not enough parent involvement, yet at this school, when you try to be involved, you are quickly shut down. The receptionist is not very welcoming nor are the teachers or administration. When you have parents and grandparents who wish to be involved in their child's learning experience, you should put forth the effort to encourage it, not dismiss it as a problem. My students struggles began in first grade and after asking for tutorials, extra work to be sent home, lists of tutors for the district, etc, we got nothing. When you have a student who is with you ALL day and they have C's and D's in first and second grade, yet you don't send anything home for them to work on, that seems to be a real problem. Oh wait, according to the counselor and reading recovery teacher, that's "average" for their school. So it's OK? REALLY LCISD??? Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
