Summary

Odessa Kilpatrick Elementary in Katy, TX, is a top-performing school within the highly-rated Katy Independent School District (Isd), serving 968 students from Pre-K through 5th grade with a decade-long track record of excellence, never ranking below the 97th percentile in Texas.

What truly sets Odessa Kilpatrick apart is its remarkable ability to achieve outstanding results for all student groups, including those often facing achievement gaps. The school ranks in the 99th percentile for Hispanic Students, Special Education Students, and Low Socio-Economic Status Students, demonstrating a powerful commitment to equitable excellence. This is especially impressive when compared to nearby Stanley C Stanley Elementary, which has higher overall test scores but serves a less diverse population. Odessa Kilpatrick also dominates in 5th Grade Science, with 74.32% of students proficient—a massive 28-point lead over the district average and 45 points above the state. Additionally, the school is a powerhouse for English Language Learners, ranking 22nd out of 2,918 schools statewide in 2024-2025.

While the school maintains elite status, a slight dip from the 99th to the 98th percentile in recent years is worth noting, especially as competitors like Griffin Elementary and Stanley C. Stanley have surged in rankings. Math scores have also shown a minor downward trend, though they remain well above state averages. For families seeking a well-rounded school that excels at lifting every child, Odessa Kilpatrick offers a "Goldilocks" sweet spot: it is a top-tier school that demonstrably serves a wide range of students, from gifted learners to those needing extra support, making it an incredibly attractive option in a district full of excellent choices.

Open Quote We have been blessed with GREAT teachers but the admin is horrible! Condescending, disrespectful attitudes. I have 2 kids at the school and we are working with a realtor to get out of OKE....it is a decision that is NOT taken lightly but in the few times that I've had to deal with the admin (both the principal and the assistant) have left me feeling utterly dismayed at the lack of common decency in how you treat others. We have NO behavior problems so I've only dealt with them about my child who had some reading "stuggles" (meaning he's reading on the appropriate level but not as high as they demand). Ask around...I have yet to meet one person who is pleased with the admin. No complaints about the teachers but the admin ruins it for everyone! Close Quote
