Summary

Wortham Oaks Elementary in San Antonio, TX, serves 776 students from Pre-K through 6th grade and is part of the Judson Independent School District (Isd), a district that faces significant challenges but where this school shines as a clear standout.

Wortham Oaks is a remarkable "value-add" school, consistently earning top ratings and ranking in the top 13% of all Texas elementary schools. It dramatically outperforms its district by an average of 30 percentage points across all subjects and grades. For example, in 3rd grade math, 73.5% of students are proficient compared to just 34.31% district-wide. The school also far exceeds its nearest district neighbor, Rolling Meadows Elementary, with proficiency rates 15-25 points higher in reading and 20-38 points higher in math. Even more impressive, Wortham Oaks holds its own against schools from the highly-regarded North East Independent School District (Isd) and Comal Independent School District (Isd), ranking competitively with top performers like Bulverde Creek and Cibolo Green.

What truly sets Wortham Oaks apart is its broad-based success with all students. The school ranks in the top 7% of the state for Hispanic students, the top 9% for students from low socio-economic backgrounds, and the top 8% for gifted and talented students. This points to an inclusive and highly effective instructional model. The only relative weakness is in 5th-grade science, where 36.27% are proficient—still well above the district and state averages. With a strong upward trajectory and resilient leadership, Wortham Oaks is a top choice for families seeking exceptional academics within a supportive environment.

Open Quote Principal is great and my sons 3rd grade teacher was amazing but this year has been a lot different. This is a still brand new school so they're still trying to get the kinks out. Unfortunately next year were probably not gonna be returning just because we were looking for a more tenured school with set rules and regulations for everyone for our children. While this school is good it's just too stressful as parent.. Close Quote
