Akin Elementary

Akin Elementary is a small, rural PK-4 school in the Hale Center Independent School District (Isd), serving 226 students in a high-poverty area where over 80% qualify for free or reduced lunch. The school has historically ranked in the bottom 20-30% of Texas elementary schools, with performance that is highly volatile—a pattern not seen in more stable nearby schools like Abernathy Elementary, which consistently scores at or above state averages.
