While Bear Creek Elementary has seen a decline in its statewide ranking over the past few years, dropping from 458 out of 4,320 Texas elementary schools in 2014-2015 to 2,498 out of 4,651 in 2024-2025, its academic performance on STAAR tests is generally lower than the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and Texas state averages across various grade levels and subjects. For example, in 2024-2025, only 53.85% of 3rd-grade students at Bear Creek Elementary were proficient or better in STAAR Reading, compared to 68.76% for the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and 52.02% for the state of Texas. Interestingly, nearby schools within the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, such as Heritage Elementary and Taylor Elementary, consistently outperform Bear Creek Elementary on academic measures and have higher statewide rankings. In 2024-2025, for instance, Heritage Elementary had 87.78% of 3rd-grade students proficient or better in STAAR Reading, a significant difference from Bear Creek Elementary's 53.85%. While Bear Creek Elementary has a relatively high per-student spending and a lower student-teacher ratio compared to nearby districts, the school may need to focus on strengthening its academic programs and interventions to better support student achievement and address the unique needs of its diverse learners.

Open Quote School principal and teachers are very accessible and PTA does many school spirit activities which makes it feel like family. My daughters love going to Bear Creek and I love that they're able to be friends with children from other cultures. Most of all, I see progress in their learning and self-esteem. Close Quote

Open Quote Drive when school is let out and listen to the teachers on the megaphones. That will give you an idea of how they talk to kids at this school. I don't think anyone has ever seen the principle smile. Close Quote
